Glasgow's Best Burrito - The Finale - The Burrito Bandito
Well, mi hermanos, here we are: just over a month ago when I
set out on an epic quest to uncover Glasgow’s best burrito, I did not know the
awesome scale of the trek I was about to embark upon. I thought I knew
burritos: how they were supposed to be, what separated the weak from the
mighty, what elements contributed to the creation of a truly exceptional
burrito – I could not have been farther from the truth. From the first bite of
the first burrito, I knew I was in for a gargantuan task. So many differentials,
so many flavours, so many unique styles: it would take all of me to persevere
and fulfil this destiny I had burdened upon myself.
My journey took me within the tranquility of many
strongholds, beyond those reviewed in my blog: taco bell, for example, did not
make the cut. Perhaps if I regurgitated a legitimate burrito, wrapped the churned-up
pulp within a tortilla, and served it, it may have tasted better than the
disgraceful example I was plagued with in that dismal establishment. Chiquito
was a remarkably average spectacle: A review of its establishment would not
have merited a space within my pioneering research. These are just some of the
restaurants that I deemed not worthy enough to challenge for the throne.
The reviewed restaurants were those regarded as being in the
upper echelons of burrito brilliance. Overall quality experiences supported by
food of a considerable standard. Barburrito, Taco Mazama, Las Iguanas, and
Topolabamba; you all deserve praise and recognition for your efforts to provide
authentic Mexican wares to our grey, overcast shores. However, as we know,
there can only be one winner. Glasgow’s best burrito lies within the walls of
only 1 of these 4 decorated veterans of the Glasgow food scene.
Based on the parameters outlined in the about page prior to
the beginning of my journey, there could only be one winner. A truly epic
burrito eating experience. Unrivalled. Flawless. A masterfully crafted piece of
culinary artwork, comprised of fresh, high grade ingredients, served in a
restaurant worthy of yielding such a high calibre of burrito. I won’t keep you
waiting any longer.
The winner, of the status of Glasgow’s best burrito, crowned
by I, the Burrito Bandito is…Topolabamba!!! Bravo, bravo, bravo to all
involved: you have created a truly exceptional burrito, worthy of the honour I am
bestowing upon it today. If you haven’t already, I urge you to visit next time
you are in one of its branches. If you truly appreciate burritos as I do, you
will never eat anywhere else.
I suppose this is goodbye. My job is done – for now. Perhaps
from time to time I will reappear: reviewing burritos in different cities in
special editions, or even different culinary quests. Alas, for now, this is the
end of the road. I hope you enjoyed and learned from my research in the burrito
field – I know I certainly did.
Farewell, hermanos <3
The Burrito Bandito
Vamos!!!
